Kobe Bryant Tells Jeremy Lin To Facilitate The Offense
Two games in and the ultra-competitive Kobe Bryant is already wary of how their offense looks like. With two lopsided losses to Western powers Houston Rockets and the Phoenix Suns, Bryant is already putting pressure on Jeremy Lin to run the offense. During the last game when the Lakers were creamed by the run and gun Suns, Kobe was overheard by Lakers courtside reporter Serena Winters, who tweeted the exchange between the Black Mamba and the man who started Linsanity.
Kobe said he talked to Lin on the bench & said "you got to run the offense. I'm telling you to run the offense & you got to do it."(on TWC)

This must be a tall task to accomplish for Lin, given how much the Lakers offense relies on isolations and hero ball from Bryant. While Kobe led the team's last outing with 31 points, he had to do it on 25 shots while Lin only had 5 attempts and less time to distribute when Bryant was in the game. The other starters were also abysmal including Carlos Boozer (6 points, 8 turnovers) and Wesley Johnson (9, point on 2-7 shooting).
It would be unfair to direct all criticisms at Lin when Scott was optimistic of what his starting point guard can do given the opportunities. Lin played a subpar game in the two outings but showed glimpses of involving other players in the second half of the Rockets game when he dished out a couple of assists (6 dimes), which could have been 9 if not for some fumbles of his big men. Byron Scott noticed the effort and stressed that this is what Lin has to do for the team to achieve wins.
"I thought he did a pretty good job, to be honest with you," Scott said of Lin as per Houston Culture Map. "Especially in the second half... I thought he was much more aggressive and that's what we need Jeremy to be."
It would be very interesting to see the next turn of events in the Lakers team. With Steve Nash all but declared retired and the freak accident of lottery pick Julius Randle who broke his leg during the Rockets game, the Lakers would have to find ways to win in the super tight and competitive Western Conference.
