Kris Jenner Reveals What Started 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' And How Her Grandchildren Saved The Show
Kris Jenner revealed more than just the state of her love life when she sat down for an interview with Giuliana Rancic. The matriarch of the Kardashian Jenner clan revealed the real motivation behind starting their reality show and how her grandchildren saved the show.
Just days after filing for divorce from her husband of 23 years, Kris Jenner sat down for an hour-long special on E! to talk about her marriages, her kids, the family's TV show and everything else in between. "Beyond Candid" with Giuliana Rancic was able to corner the extremely busy reality star and businesswoman for a small chat and she revealed several secrets during the interview.
Kris revealed that the main motivation behind starting "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" was to promote the family's retail stores. At the time, Kris and her daughters have been running the now world-famous DASH store as well as another store called Smooch. Nine seasons later, the family has not only expanded DASH to several new locations across the United States, the Kardashian and Jenner names are now associated with countless product lines that are sold all over the world. The older girls now have the Kardashian Kollection brand that offers a wide array of products, from apparel, shoes and accessories, all the way down to skincare, makeup and hair styling tools. Kim's first three daughters, Kourtney, Kim and Khloe, are the names and faces behind the fast-growing Kardashian Kollection brand. Robert Kardashian, Kris' youngest child from her first marriage, is now also head honcho of his own sock company called Arthur George.
Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Kris' kids with second husband Bruce Jenner, have also formed collaborations with brands like PacSun and Steve Madden to release collections under their name. The two youngest girls began appearing on the reality sow when they were barely in their teens.
All good things come to an end and Kris admitted that the show was about to start to get boring and the show might need to end. She said in the interview though that her children saved the day when they started having kids of their own and then all of a sudden there are new stories to tell. The show has now witnessed the birth of Mason and Penelope Disick, Kourtney's children with long-time boyfriend Scott. It was also on the show where Kourtney announced her third pregnancy and Scott's less-than-ideal reaction was also captured on film.
Kim's difficult pregnancy with her baby North as well as her engagement and wedding to Kanye West were also documented on the show. Apart from the family's milestones, their disasters also played out in front of millions of people. Khloe's failed marriage to Lamar Odom and Kim's infamous 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries were also displayed for everyone who cared to watch. Kris herself was not spared as the slow degradation of her marriage and subsequent divorce from Bruce Jenner were also seen in the series. Now getting ready for their tenth season, it remains to be seen if the Kardashians will continue to bring compelling stories that will keep their audiences glued to their TV screens.
