Kris Jenner Talks About Her Ex-Husband Robert Kardashian And Says He Believed O.J. Simpson Was Innocent
The Kardashian name is now a global brand recognised by people from all walks of life and emblazoned on TV screens and various everyday products on the market. All of this is thanks to the popularity and sometimes notoriety of the members of the Kardashian Jenner clan. Kris Jenner, the family's matriarch, sat down with Giuliana Rancic to talk about the man who gave her and her children their now famous name. Among the things that she talked about were their divorce, his involvement with O.J. Simpson and finally his death.
The two women sat down for an hour long interview on "Beyond Candid" for E!. Few people would remember Kris Jenner from the time before the reality shows and back when she was still a Kardashian. She was the wife of a high-profile defence attorney who represented O.J. Simpson when he was charged for the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson. The Kardashians were close friends with the Simpsons and Kris admitted that Nicole's death was easily one of the worst days of her life. Her ex-husband Robert decided to represent his friend in the trial and this had put a toll on their relationship.
Kris shared that Robert had written to her before the trial began and he said that he truly believed in OJ's innocence. Kris said that she thinks Robert would not have represented his friend if he had not truly believed that he was innocent. She also admitted that when he was acquitted, she was stunned by the verdict.
Just three weeks after her divorce from Robert, Kris started dating Bruce Jenner and the two were married five months later. She eventually had two children with Bruce who are also now stars in their own right: Kendall and Kylie. It was also with Bruce that she raised her kids with former husband Robert. Kris had four Kardashian kids who really need no introduction: Kourtney, Kimberly, Khloe and Robert. Kris said that she, Bruce and Robert always had a united front when it came to raising their children. Bruce came into their marriage also with a brood of four of his own, which meant that there were a total of 10 kids between them.
Sadly, Robert was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 and he passed away on September of the same year just eight weeks after his diagnosis. Kris shared that Kourtney wore black for five years after he died and was the one who was affected the most. She was also the one who was most affected when they divorced, which is something that she still brings up from time to time whenever her own relationship with Scott Disick and their unmarried status is called into question.
Kris also shared that Rob had spent some time living with his father before Robert Sr. passed. She said that their youngest child lived with his father for the last year and a half before Robert succumbed to esophageal cancer.
Robert is still mentioned frequently on "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." The family often dine out in their favourite Armenian restaurant and they get together on Robert's birthday and other special occasions. Kris said that she believes that if he could see them now, he would be happy with the way things have worked out for them. "I think he would be very, very proud of his family. I think that he's thinking 'Good job, guys.'"
