Kristen Stewart promoted her new film "Camp X-Ray" at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. "Camp X-Ray" is a film written and directed by Peter Sattler which is about an American soldier named Amy Cole (played by Stewart) who is assigned to Guantanamo Bay as a guard and ends up befriending a man who has been locked up in there for eight years.

Stewart spoke briefly about the film and her character Amy, who she thinks is very easy to relate to.

"Camp X-Ray is not a hugely opinionated movie," said the 23-year-old actress in a report by On the Red Carpet (OTRC).

"Human beings love each other. That's just the way that it is and so that's what the movie's about."

"In this gray area, there's one constant and people shouldn't forget that," she added.

Sattler, who is the writer and director of "Camp X-Ray" said that he wanted to focus more on humanity rather than politics.

Stewart's co-stars in "Camp X-Ray" include Tara Holt ("How I Met Your Mother"), Yousuf Azami ("Brothers"), Julia Duffy ("Suburgatory"), John Carroll Lynch ("House of Lies"), Joseph Julian Soria ("Supernatural") and Lane Garrison ("Prison Break").

This is Stewart's first film after appearing in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" and "Snow White and the Huntsman" in 2012.

"Camp X-Ray" is based on a true story about a temporary facility at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp in Cuba in 2002. It was located inside the U.S. Naval Base there.

According to Variety, "Camp X-Ray" viewers were divided on how they felt about the film after watching it. Some of them loved the movie while some thought it was too slow and dragging.

On the other hand, Critic Wire gathered comments from various critics including David Rooney of Hollywood Reporter, Kate Aurthur of BuzzFeed, Drew McWeeny of HitFix, Eric Kohn of Indiewire and Matt Patches of Vanity Fair who have watched Stewart's new flick and a lot of them praised her acting in the film. Unlike her blockbuster movies which were shown around the world in 2012, "Camp X-Ray" will probably be released in limited theatres only.

But, Stewart's fans need not fret because she will be seen again in potential box-office hits including "Equals," with Nicholas Hoult, "Snow White and the Huntsman 2," "Still Alice," "Sils Maria," "Anesthesia" and "American Ultra."
