Kurt Sutter Back In London For 'The Bastard Executioner' While Katey Sagal Reflects About Old Age In ‘A Few Thoughts On Surrender’

Currently back in London for his new series, “The Bastard Executioner,” Kurt Sutter is moving ahead for his March 2015 production as he begins casting in the UK. Sutter shared a snap on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 15, while his wife in real life and SOA co-star Katey Sagal shared her thoughts on old age in a blog entry titled "A Few Thoughts on Surrender.”
The 54-year-old series creator has been using his Twitter and Instagram accounts to tease details about his upcoming period drama series. Sutter has been around UK for the past months looking for locations for the show and doing some initial prep work for his upcoming medieval show set in the 14th century.
Based on “The Bastard Executioner” official website, the long-haired director has been eyeing Caerphilly Castle in South Wales for the new series; he posted a picture of the medieval fortification on Instagram. Constructed by Gilbert de Clare, the castle has endured several big battles in the past which is perfect for his new show.
SOA director/executive producer Paris Barclay is teaming up with Sutter for the second time after their massive hit in FX. The tattooed showrunner is also the man behind FX’s biker drama series “Sons of Anarchy,” which ended in an all-time high in December after seven long seasons.
Meanwhile, Katey Sagal also confirmed her involvement in her husband's new project but did not divulge any information about her role. Known for her role as SAMCRO’s matriarch, Gemma Teller, the actress is currently shooting for “Bleed For This.” The movie deals about an athlete’s miraculous recovery from a car accident that left him with a broken back.
Sagal plays Louise Pazienza, the mother of boxer Vinny Pazienza, to be played by “Whiplash” star Miles Teller. Other cast members include Aaron Eckhart as trainer Kevin Rooney, Amanda Clayton as Doreen Pazienza, Ciaran Hinds and Tom DeNucci.
With so many projects lined up for her, Sagal took some time to reflect and shared her thoughts about old age and her “prayer for surrender” on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Husband Kurt Sutter also shared the link to all his followers on Twitter.
“I just bought a magazine I would never buy, its cover claimed to 'anti-age me.' In bright bold print it screamed at me how these few steps promised to actually 'slow down the process,'” Sagal wrote on her Wordpress account.
