Radio jocks Kyle Sandilands and Jackie Henderson are leaving their home station Southern Cross Austereo for a more lucrative contract at a rival station. The “Kyle and Jackie O’ radio partners have announced that they are ending their 10-year run on the station following a contract dispute.

On Friday, the radio superstar duo shocked listeners with their “little announcement,” with Henderson starting with, “The success we’ve had with this show is a large part why it’s been so hard for us to make this decision.”

“We have decided, Jackie and I, that we will not be returning to 2DayFm in 2014. And that’s not an easy decision,” Sandilands added.

Sandilands apparently wanted the station to double his salary to $4million, but 2DayFM refused to budge. In the end, he decided to leave the show, taking with him his long-time radio partner, who reportedly earns half as much as him.

But in their announcement, the popular DJs rebuffed the report that they couldn’t get a deal with the station.

“Southern Cross Austereo has been very good. They offered us a very nice deal to stay on for a very good years,” he said.

“It’s been very amicable,” Henderson said of their parting with the network.

Their show on 2DayFM will be on air until November 29. Southern Cross Austereo has yet to announce their replacement.

So what’s next for the arguably most popular jocks in the country? The Sunday Telegraph reports that they are in the final stages of negotiations with Mix 106.5’s broadcaster Australian Radio Network (ARN).

They are set to return to the breakfast timeslot in 2014. They will also reportedly start with less than their earnings at 2DayFM, around $1 million each, but their salary will also increase as their audience grows.

Apart from their morning show, their deal will also include a weekly show airing with ARN affiliate Clear Channel.

And that’s not all they are getting, The Daily Telegraph has also revealed that they are set to take their dream team with them.

Executive producer Simon Greally, producer Matt Simpson, and social media and talent producer Tim Dunlop are all reportedly set to sign with ARN to join the duo as well. Show manager Nick Cervetto might also join them.

ARN, meanwhile, has confirmed that the station is in talks with Sandilands and Henderson, but there are no deals made yet.

“Our results and ambition mean we are in a strong position to talk to Kyle and Jackie O about joining our network. Nothing is agreed but talks have commenced,” ARN Chief Executive Ciaran Davis said.
