Despite the shocked reaction of Kylie Minogue towards the flash mob that surprised her outside Monday's Circular Quay party, her rep confirms it was a staged act.

Yesterday, the video of a bunch of singers led by a drag queen made it to local news, commercials, and all around the web. This proved to be quite an effective publicity stunt to improve ticket sales for Minogue's Aphrodite: Les Folies tour, with still one show happening in Sydney tonight. The man who organized the flash mob is DJ and self-confessed Kylie fanatic Dan Murphy, who says he has approached the pop star's management several times before.

"I contacted Kylie's management a couple of months ago and said that we were interested in doing something and at the time they said they weren't sure if there would be an opportunity ", says Murphy in a report posted at news.com.au. The Sydney DJ then went on adding that the reps called him back, saying their performance 'could work' at a red carpet event that's about to happen. The flash mob sang a medley of Minogue's famous songs including I Should Be So Lucky. Minogue's rep says the reaction of the singer is entirely genuine, that she was 'shocked' because she had absolutely no knowledge of the mob. The stunt is a much-needed publicity to attract potential concert goers to final Sydney leg of her Aussie tour happening at the Entertainment Centre tonight.

Murphy and the rest of the singers were not paid in cash by the star's management team, nor were given tickets to the concert, but were invited to go inside the exclusive party celebrating the tour. The Aphrodite: Les Folies tour will continue in Melbourne with a three-show stop at Rod Lavern Arena, followed by a show in Adelaide.
