Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue put on a surprise gig in a sleepy English Village last Thursday.

The singer performed five of her hit songs at the Ring O' Bells in the Somerset village of Compton Martin, enlivening the pub and delighting the locals.

Minogue's performance was unannounced until a few hours before the pop star took the microphone at the pub. The show was a favour from Kylie's to record company Parlophone whose head Miles Leonard live in the village.

Landlady Lauren Goddard said that Kylie Minoue's suprise performance was "all a bit surreal."

"It is not the sort of thing you expect to see in a quiet local pub like this. "We were sworn to secrecy and didn't even tell the staff until 30 minutes before the doors opened," Goddard said.
