Australia’s most famous sisters Kylie and Dannii Minogue are reuniting on national television after 26 years. Dannii has recruited her older sibling to appear as her guest mentor on the top-rating “The X Factor.”

“Dannii is so good at this, I’m just along for the ride. It’s really fun to do something together, so it was a done deal when she asked me,” Kylie, 45, was quoted by the media as saying.

“This feels normal for us. This kind of show is one of Dannii’s natural habitats, but I do feel at home on a TV set and being with my sister,” she continued. “If you’ve grown up being a tennis player you’re comfortable on a tennis court. We’re both comfortable in this environment.”

The last time the Minogue sisters worked together for an Aussie programme was in 1987 on their breakout show “Young Talent Time.”

“I don’t even want to think of how long ago that was,” Kylie quipped. “My hair was bigger, my waist was smaller... good times.”

That wasn’t the last time they appeared together in front of a camera, though. They also teamed up for the UK version of “The X Factor” in 2009, where Dannii was a judge and Kylie was a guest mentor. And now they’re repeating the experience, but this time on their native land.

“Usually we’re in pyjamas and Ugg boots,” Dannii, 41, said. “So this is a change. Kylie is a huge ‘X Factor’ fan.”

For Kylie, who has enjoyed international chart success for decades, being a guest mentor for “The X Factor” is one thing, but auditioning as a participant is another.

When asked if she would audition for the show if she were just starting out in the industry, she replied, “I have questioned that myself. I don’t know. I’m sure I wouldn’t make it through. I really am.”

The sisters’ episode was filmed last week, and will air later this year on Channel 7.
