Kylie Minogue, The Wiggles: To Be Honored Among Aussie's Best
Aussie living legends and international sensations Kylie Minogue and the Wiggles will be inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame at next month's ceremonies.
The Australian Recording Industry Association will honor two of the most successful musical acts in the country during their 25th anniversary awards show this year. The awardees have each won nine ARIA awards in previous years.
Minogue and the Wiggles are in excellent company, joining a roster of ARIA royalty that include AC/DC, INXS, Cold Chisel and Paul Kelly, among others.
Minogue will be accepting the honor personally, adding an extra dose of star power on the red carpet.
The pop icon is also celebrating her silver anniversary in the industry, marking 25 years of dazzling fans from all around the world. In 2008, the Oz superstar received an Order of the British Empire from Buckingham Place for her overwhelming success and contributions in music. She has recorded 11 studio albums, two live albums and eight live DVDs, and the 40-year-old is far from finished.
"It's difficult to age with dignity in the pop business," Minogue told The Age. "But I'd like to think I've managed it so far."
She is in talks with BBC about becoming a judge on a new reality talent show The Voice. Reports say she could potentially take home £1 million for the gig.
The Wiggles have handled career longevity with equal dignity as they celebrate their 20th anniversary.
Having sold 30 million CDs and DVDs worldwide, this child-friendly band has recently recorded Rewiggled: A Tribute To The Wiggles. This new album features other artists' unique versions of The Wiggles' most famous numbers, and will be released on Friday.
The group will also be performing at the Moncrieff Theatre in Bundaberg this week as part of their anniversary celebrations.
The ARIA awards show will be held at the Allphones Arena in Sydney on Nov. 27.
