Los Angeles banned on Tuesday the Project Runway billboard of the TV programme's host Heidi Klum for being too sexy. The billboard is for season 12 of the popular reality show.

It features Heidi and co-host Tim Gunn fully clothed like royalty, but with them are eight naked male and female models. It is inspired by the fairy tale The Emperor's New Clothes, with Heidi and Tim shown holding giant needles.

The show pits fashion designers, with the winner getting juicy contracts and cash prizes.

Although no private parts or even breasts and butts were exposed since the models were shown sideways and covered their chest area, the photo used on billboards, posters, Web sites, bus shelters and magazines was found too racy by LA officials.

LA ordered that another version with the models wearing underwear replace the current billboard. Too Fab, which reported the banning, said that its survey showed 61 per cent of its readers found the sexy ad fine, but 39 per cent said it was improper.

New York allowed the billboard.

The 40-year-old Heidi, while prim and proper in the billboard, had appeared nude for Allure magazine in 2012.
