Although Katherine Jackson said she was "OK" when the LA jury delivered its verdict on Thursday favouring AEG Live, the producer of her son Michael Jackson's concert series in London, in truth and not unexpectedly, she was devastated.

Mrs Jackson was counting on receiving at least a 10-digit damage from the lawsuit, but what she got was zero. The King of Pop's mum initially sought $40 billion, but eventually reduced it to $1.5 billion.

Now, why would the heirs of the King of Pop who made billions of dollars in his 50 years of earthly life, 45 years of which were performing, still need more money when they are well provided and could live without working a day in their life?

Fox News quoted someone closely connected to the Jacksons that indeed, Katherine as well as Michael's three kids - Prince, Paris and Blanket - regularly receive an amount from Jackson's estate.

However, the mother in Katherine prevailed and she wanted to leave some inheritance to her other children who are not as well off as Michael.

In filing the wrongful death lawsuit, a Jackson family link said they thought sentiment would be on their side. "They will now say that they just wanted to find the truth, well, the truth that was revealed was that Michael was indeed an addict and because he didn't get help, he met the fate that he had set out for himself," Fox News quoted its source.

Fortunately for the Jacksons, despite an unfavourable verdict, they would not have to pay huge legal bills since the agreement with the lawyers was that they would be paid if the family wins the lawsuit.

The family is still considering filing an appeal.
