Lady Gaga attacked by Vampire Woman, critics applaud
Lady Gaga, who's famous for her fake prosthetics and weird outfits, was reprimanded by a seemingly grotesque lady who's an avid fan of body modifications.
Maria Jose Cristerna, or more popularly known as Vampire Woman in Mexico, has a lot to say about the pop star's fake facial horns, spiked shoulders, and pseudo cheek blades. Cristerna, who's controversial for her implanted titanium horns, dental fangs and tattooed body, says there's a lot more than just 'wanting to look cool' with these kinds of modifications.
"Let's not do things half-assed. Conviction doesn't sprout because of money or for appearances sake", says Cristerna in an interview posted at a blog. In a separate interview with the Huffington Post, Cristerna shares her history of domestic abuse that led to her body-altering decisions, saying that it is a "sign of strength" and not just something to add personality to whatever she does.
Although the public and most of her fans seem to find the couture antics acceptable, Gaga has been receiving a lot of fire for "trying to be different" when she's really not. Real critics say her music is tamed, normal and "worlds away" from her stage and public persona, deceiving first time listeners to expect a deeper sense of musicality. Clear examples of artists who have reasons to dress artistically would be the Icelandic marvel Bjork, whose music is defined as enchanting, enthralling and inventive.
"Conviction should come from the heart, because people can tell...when it doesn't. Perhaps she should 'feel' things more and not just give lip service", adds the Vampire Woman on the same interview. It is pretty evident what Cristerna is trying to say, that Gaga should discontinue using fake body modification as a tool to be unique and labeled as "weird". Others might see this as a reality check for the pop star, that maybe she needs to man up when it comes to her not-so-unique kind of music.
