Lady Gaga Breaks Ties With Longtime Creative Director Laurieann Gibson
A major part of the Lady Gaga phenomenon is the creative team behind her. And now the close-knit team will be losing a vital member.
Lady Gaga confirmed on Monday that she will not be working with creative director and choreographer Laurieann Gibson anymore.
The two have been working together since 2007 when Gaga approached the choreographer for creative advice.
"She came to me like, 'I got dropped and I don't really know if I have it in me to know what I need to do to make my dream come true,'" Gibson recalls in an interview with LA Times.
"We started designing her opinion as a live performer and what that would be, what the records would feel visually," she adds.
The union resulted in the monstrously successful Gaga franchise complete with international recognition, critical success and sensational live performances.
Rumors began when online website MEDIATAKEOUT (MTO) first reported about a bitter fight between the longtime partners.
An exclusive interview with an insider notes a change in Gibson's attitude since being granted her own E! reality television show "Born To Dance".
"Laurieann is a bit of a diva, but she had her ego under control - not anymore," the source explains to MTO.
According to the insider, the rocky relationship encountered its final bump last week during a heated disagreement over the phone.
"A lot of things were said, and it was very heated," the insider reveals. "Laurieann ended up hanging up [on Lady Gaga] and saying that she was suing."
Creative differences also played a part in the pair's troubles, particularly in the video of Gaga's hit "Judas".
"At one point, there was two completely different views and after the third glass of wine, I was like, 'Listen, I don't want lightning to strike me. I believe in the Gospel and I'm not going there,'" Gibson reveals.
Although the partnership turned sour, Gibson was essential to the pop sensation's rise to fame. She choreographed the diva's music videos, including "Poker Face" and "Bad Romance". The choreographer-turned-television-host also dabbled in other aspects of production, co-directing "Judas" with Gaga, and most recently directing "You and I".
