Lady Gaga Goes 'Au Naturalle' for Harper's Bazaar Cover [PHOTOS]
Lady Gaga, Without the Lavish Make-Up
The usually-flamboyant dresser appears with "no make-up" for the October issue of Harper's Bazaar, and fashion critics aren't buying it so much.
Lady Gaga left her weird ensembles and 12-inch heels at home when she showed up for the cover shoot of the October issue of Harper's Bazaar. Appearing as a "natural" ballerina without lewd clothing or loud colors to fill her shock value jar, the "Born This Way" singer went with no make-up on and little clothing for her shoot. Some fans are saying how inventive the singer truly is, but fashion fanatics aren't so impressed. When asked about the shoot, Lady Gaga says it was all "staged" to look "natural," not surprising since she wishes to be "ironic" or something else all the time.
"Don't you think that what's on the cover of a magazine is quite artificial? There's this idea that it's all natural, but everything's been staged to look natural," she says. "It is also an invention. It's just that my inventions are different. I often get asked about my artifice, but isn't fashion based on the idea that we can create a fantasy?" says the singer in the magazine feature as reported by KXLY.
Even though the "You and I" singer is known for her gaudy outfits and multiple personas, Lady Gaga explained how she remains to be the same person inside the costumes, make-up, and hilarious hair-dos.
"It's more about just being honest and sincere to the core of what you do. Whether I'm wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I'm always the same person inside" added the singer in the same interview.
Recently, Lady Gaga appeared dressed like a man, whom she calls "Jo Calderone," at the MTV Video Music Awards. The singer said it's the persona of a man who has left her in the past, and that she is merely adding her "shock value" twist to her gimmicky red carpet ensembles.
