Lady Gaga is happier and more sober than she has ever been. This is after letting her manager go and even if her "ARTPOP" album sales were not up to her expectations. The 28-year-old singer is also now more positive about her life and her career.

In her interview with Associated Press, Lady Gaga shared why she let her manager, Troy Carter, go. She also talked of her current state of emotions and sobriety. On the previous year, Lady Gaga had to make the hard decision of letting her manager go so that she can be the artist that she wants.

"Part of what was making my sort of artistic experience so unpleasant was that I felt that I was not able to truly freely fly as an artist," she shared to Associated Press. "In some ways my talents were not being used to their full potential."

She shared that this feeling affected how ARTPOP turned out and why it tanked in album sales. She's not blaming her manager though. She shared that the whole situation cannot be described as creativity differences. Rather, it was more on her needing to be more creative but was not allowed to because of her schedule. The whole industry also calls for her to focus more on the financial side of things, rather than the creative side of it, which she wanted to do more. Being focused on the financials made her lost her heart and integrity as a musician, she said.

"While I was making 'ARTPOP,' I was very tired. I'm actually very proud of 'ARTPOP.' As much as it's had a lot of criticism, I think a lot of that had to do with where I am in my career; I've been on top for a long time, I think it's the nature of this industry - we love to build them up to tear them down," the singer shared.

Now that she's making a new jazz album with Tony Bennet, called "Cheek to Cheek," she said she's happier. Meditation also helped her achieve the right state of mind.

"I meditate a lot. I'm happy. I am more sober than I've ever been," the controversial singer shared.

The artist is currently completing her international tour, which would end on November 24, in Paris. She will also be performing in a concert with Bennett in October, NPR Music reports.
