X Factor got into another controversy after the raunchy performance of Lady Gaga Sunday night's episode. The performance and much applauded by the judges didn't prove to be too good for the show's reputation rather it invited more than hundred complaints by the X Factor viewers.

The controversial star took the stage in flesh-colored underwear and bra with shells on her bosom. Her attire and provocative moves while on the stage instigated the controversy and attracted about 260 complaints from viewers. She performed two new songs "Venus" and "Do What You Want."

Some 200 complaints were filed to the media regulator Ofcom about the inappropriateness of the nature of the performance for a family show and about 60 complaints were received directly by ITV.

Lady Gaga's performance led to the outrage of parents over the explicit nature of her show as viewed by millions of children. Complaining parents have asked for a tough action against ITV for allowing such raunchy act to be shown on air.

Vivienne Pattison, director of pressure group Mediawatch UK, has blamed the broadcaster for not being too watchful of the performances that are being shown.

Appearances by singers like Rihanna and Christina Aguilera in past series have been subjected to such controversies and complaints.

"The X Factor are doing everything they can to keep their ratings up. I don't think things like this should be in TV. It is damaging to the children who watch the show. It tells children, particularly young girls, "This is what you have to do if you want to make it in the music industry." The biggest stars are always shown taking their clothes off," said Vivienne Pattison.

Lady Gaga had about ten back dancers while she was writhing around on stage singing her song "Venus" and it was her "Do What You Want" performance that added fuel to the fire.

"We do not believe Lady Gaga's performance was inappropriate for the family audience of The X Factor Results show, which has an established tradition of featuring performances from the biggest music stars of the moment. Lady Gaga is well known for her highly individual performance style," said ITV spokesperson defending Lady Gaga's raunchy performance on "X Factor" on her two new singles "Venus" and "Do What You Want."
