Reports say that it was Lamar Odom's decision to let slip an opportunity of playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) again. Apparently, the New York native wasn't holding onto his passion for the sports.

Lamar's best chance to make a comeback in the NBA was the New York Knicks but the NBA team has shattered his homecoming to the sport when they cut him from their roster. Did Lamar intentionally let slip an ideal opportunity to resuscitate his basketball career?

A source told Life & Style that Lamar has stopped showing up for Knicks' meetings. He would gone missing in action for days and even weeks, the source further stated. After Lamar goes missing, the team holds out hope that they would at least be able to get in touch with him, but they weren't able to reach him.

"It's impossible to get a hold of him," the source told Life & Style. "It was so unprofessional."

Meanwhile, another insider has revealed what might have been the reasons for Lamar's lack of interest to play in the NBA. Lamar wasn't really doing great, a source told US Weekly. People close to Lamar initially expected a positive result when he first had discussions with former coach and Knicks' president Phil Jackson. They thought the Knicks' management gave Lamar a fair chance but he wasted the opportunity. The source said the Lamar wasn't over with his personal dilemmas.

"Admittedly, he's had a couple of rough hands dealt with the family and the Khloe situation being frequently thrown in his face," revealed the insider.

The Knicks signed Lamar in multi-year non-guaranteed deal in the latter part of the last NBA season. Lamar was given the whole of summer to prove his value for the roster spot. Recently, the Knicks let Lamar go because he was "unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player" as stated by Jackson via ESPN.

Lamar last played for the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA during the 2012-2013 season.
