What is good in a National Basketball Association (NBA) contract if you aren't sure if you will play basketball? For Lamar Odom, he will take whatever chance he can get so he can play for the NBA again. It seems it doesn't matter if he plays in the next season or not. What is important is that he is signed with the New York Knicks so he'll take it from there.

The Knicks made an official announcement on April 16 that the team has signed Lamar for the rest of the current NBA season, CBS Sports reported. However, here's the catch—Lamar may be signed with Knicks but it is unsure if he will play in the next season. Lamar has to prove to the Knicks that he is worth it so he can officially become part of the team's roster.

"The deal is a multi-year deal that is reportedly non-guaranteed for next season. It allows the Knicks to evaluate Odom's condition and commitment over the summer and then decide if they want to keep him," CBS Sports wrote.

If Lamar really wants to have a permanent stint in the NBA, he needs to make sure he will perform well for the rest of the season.

It can be remembered that Lamar was unable to finish his 2-month basketball contract in Spain because of his back injuries. He was only able to play for Baskonia, also known as Laboral Kutxa, for two games. People weren't exactly pleased with his performance. During his first game for the Spanish team, he was only able to last for 6 minutes on the court, committing two fouls, three rebounds and scoring none. For his second game with Baskonia, he played for 17 minutes. Subsequently, his back problems worsened and he was forced to fly back to the U.S. to obtain a second opinion. Later on, he ended up terminating his contract with the Spanish basketball club altogether.

At one point in his life, Lamar thought that his days in the NBA are long gone. Thanks to his former coach Phil Jackson, who now works as the Knicks' president, Lamar was able to set foot back in the premier basketball league. Jackson had reportedly met Lamar a number of times prior to the signing.
