LAPD Launches Investigation For Bill Cosby Sexual Abuse Cases
The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation to validate the authenticity of the accusations raised against Bill Cosby. The woman, who claimed that she was sexually molested by the actor at 15 years old, has filed a report with the police to seek justice.
A spokesperson from the police department has confirmed to News.com that the alleged victim, Judy Huth, filed a plea for an investigation of the case after a 90-minute meeting with the department's top detectives. Huth was accompanied by her renowned attorney, Gloria Allred.
Witnessing the uproar and renewed allegations every other day, the LAPD had declared earlier that the department will investigate all charges raised against the actor, even if they are beyond the stipulated time as long as someone comes forward and files a report. Following the complaint filed by Huth, the police has now initiated an investigation in these decade-old cases of drugging and sexual abuse. Despite not sharing sharing much details about the case, police urged the other women alleging the actor of sexual abuse to come forward and speak with the detectives, regardless of the provisions under the Statute of Limitations.
A couple of days back, Huth filed a lawsuit seeking justice for her experience with Cosby years ago. She claimed the actor molested her when she was just a teenager. Nearly 15 women have already accused Cosby of sexual misconducts of different nature ranging from groping, molesting, drugging and even rape.
However, he was never charged with any crime and his attorneys denied every allegation thrown against him. Meanwhile, the lawyer representing Cosby, Martin Singer, counter-sued Huth claiming that all the charges levied against his client were absolutely false. He even hinted at blackmail, as Huth allegedly earlier demanded $250,000 from the famed comedian.
The string of allegations have triggered online and offline conflicts. Nothing has been proven yet, but the 77-year-old comedian is already facing the heat caused by the emerging stories. Since these multiple accusations came into light, the U.S. Navy revoked its honourary title of Chief Petty Officer bestowed upon him in 2011.
Also, Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was found vandalised with the word "rapist" scribbled all over it. The comedian received the star way back in 1977.
