Lara Bingle’s “very poor” driving record has earned her a suspended jail sentence. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old model was told that she will be jailed if she gets behind the wheel within the next two years.

She pleaded guilty to two charges of driving on a cancelled license.

Magistrate Clare Farnan berated Bingle for a few minutesin Waverley Local Court for her inability to follow road rules, reminding her that no one is above the law.

“These laws apply to everyone in the community in exactly the same way. They are not there to be annoying,” she told the former reality star.

Her lawyer explained that she was unaware that her license had been cancelled when she was pulled over in September 2012. She only thought that she was given temporary suspension as a result of speeding offences, not cancelled.

“My client is somewhat unworldly when it comes to administrative things because a lot of it has been done for her,” Bingle’s rep, Michael Ainsworth, said.

Farnan, however, took note of Bingle’s “very poor” driving record. She banned Bingle from driving for two years, giving her a $2000 fine.

In the U.S., Bingle’s boyfriend, Sam Worthington, has had his assault case dismissed after an agreement with the District Attorney’s Office that he would stay away from trouble for six months.

The “Avatar” star was charged with misdemeanour assault in February for allegedly assaulting photographer Sheng Li, who had apparently aggressively pursued Bingle for hours before kicking her in the shin.

Li was also charged with assault, but with added reckless endangerment and harassment charges.

When Worthington’s case was resolved in April, Li’s lawyer complained that the case was unfairly treated because Worthington is a celebrity. He maintained that Bingle should also be charged for his client’s brutal assault.
