Lara Croft has been delivering adventure after adventure for 20 years now. And to celebrate this, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics has partnered with GameChanger Charity for a charitable event.

Announced via press release, the developer has a lot of activities lined up for the two-decade anniversary. What the partnership allows is a free digital copy of “Tomb Raider” the 2013 reboot for every donation made to the charity for at least US$1 (approx. AU$1.31). Everyone from everywhere is entitled to give their donations, though some physical prizes are only limited to U.S. residents who donate to the cause.

Anyone who will contribute at least US$20 (approx. AU$26.25) will have the chance to try for a draw lot contest. Prizes up for grabs here include a special Crystal Dynamics swag bag that has the collector’s edition of “Rise of the Tomb Raider” as well as other items related to the “Tomb Raider” series.

“Since its introduction, ‘Tomb Raider’ has held a significant place in video game history, and further cements that with this milestone,” said Crystal Dynamics co-head Ron Rosenberg in a statement. “We look forward to celebrtig with fans, and honouring the iconic Lara Croft with special events, retrospectives, giveaways and other surprises throughout this year of Tomb Raider.”

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have recently made the latest “Rise of the Tomb Raider” expansion available. For this round, players will be facing more than just animals and mysticals.

According to Kotaku, the enemies are now what can only be seen as zombies. These are supposedly humanoids who have been infected by a disease. And while they are not the ravaging zombies that are only out for brains, these enemies are more adept at fighting, using knives and other weapons to hunt Lara Croft down.

It’s a new take on the survival game of fight and seek, and with Lara Croft in the middle of the mix it’s going to be a cold ride through the infested research area where the expansion takes place.
