Gratuitous nudity and (reported) unsimulated sex will be greeting Christmas day this year. Danish filmmaker Lars Von Trier will be premiering his controversial film "Nymphomaniac" starring some of Hollywood's biggest names on December 25 in Copenhagen.

"Nymphomaniac" is an erotic thriller about a woman who recounts the story of her life as a nymphomaniac. It stars Shia LaBeouf, charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, and Uma Thurman among other names.

The film has been garnering controversy ever since early reports claim that it will feature explicit scenes, with LaBeouf implying in past interviews that he would be participating in the unsimulated sex scenes.

"It is Lars von Trier, making a movie about what he's making. For instance, there's a disclaimer at the top of the script that basically says we're doing it for real. Everything that is illegal, we'll shoot in blurred images. Other than that, everything is happening," he told MTV News.

The "Transformers" star even (jokingly?) claimed in a separate interview that he got the part for the film after he sent Von Trier videotapes of him and his girlfriend having sex.

Skarsgard, on the other hand, doused rumours that the film will feature the big stars performing real sexual acts on camera.

"When we call this a porno, it's meant ironically but irony doesn't work well in print," he told The Hollywood Reporter last year.

"The film is sexually explicit but, believe me, it will be a very, very bad wanking movie," he added that "body doubles" and "visual effects" were used.

However, given Von Trier's history in making films, unsimulated sex is not too farfetched. He had such scenes in "The Idiots" (1998) and "Antichrist" (2009).

In related news, Magnolia Pictures has released a new image for the film, featuring the ensemble cast doing various racy activities.

A separate shot also features Gainsbourg completely topless and sandwiched between two shirtless men.
