'The Last Kingdom' season 3: Death of a king trailer
A new, one-minute long trailer of “The Last Kingdom” season 3 has been released online. Alfred (David Dawson) is an old man now. The king is dying, and his death could mean the end of the kingdom of Wessex. The Danes are ravaging the land, and it is up to Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) to bring peace.
Several new characters are being introduced on the show in season 3. One of the more significant characters is a female seer known as Skade. The trailer shows Skade near a swamp, predicting the death of a king, and prophesising that Uhtred will have to rule one day.
The kingdom of Wessex appears doomed. There will be a huge time jump on the show. Alfred is old and frail. His son, who is now a teenager, is reluctant to take the crown. The situation prompts the enemies of the kingdom to rise up. The biggest threat is from the Danes.
One of the factions of the Danes is led by Ragnar the Younger (Tobias Santelmann), and he is keen of making Alfred surrender or destroy his kingdom. Will Ragnar be forced to fight his brother on the battlefield?
Aethelwold (Harry McEntire) will be back, and he still wants to be king. He will ally himself with the Danes, possibly with the hope that he will be given Alfred’s crown.
Alfred wants Uhtred’s help to secure his kingdom, and the future of his son as the next king. However, Skade wants Uhtred to “undo the past” and “destroy Alfred.”
Familiar characters like Beocca (Ian Hart) will also be back. It remains to be seen who he will side with if Uhtred decides to become the king of Wessex.
All ten episodes of “The Last Kingdom” season 3 will be released on Nov. 18 on Netflix.
