'The Last Kingdom' series 2 episode 5 preview and spoilers: The Viking brothers are not done yet

The Viking brothers Sigefrid and Erik are not done yet, and will be back with a vengeance in “The Last Kingdom” series 2 episode 5. The Danes have rallied their forces and are preparing to attack, but their target is not a Saxon kingdom. The following article contains spoilers.

The preview video of the next episode shows Sigefrid (Björn Bengtsson) giving a rousing speech to his troops, while his brother looks on. The Danes are preparing to attack, and it appears their target is Guthrum (Thomas W. Gabrielsson).

After Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon) chopped off Sigefrid’s hand in the previous episode, the Dane has fixed a dagger in its place, which makes him look even more fierce. But, the brothers are not interested in fighting the hero yet it seems.

Sigefrid is expressing his anger at Guthrum for what he feels is a betrayal of the Danes and their way of life. Guthrum has converted to Christianity and now calls himself a king. This is seen by the brothers as shaming their ancestors. More importantly, The Viking brothers are not happy about the peace treaty with Alfred (David Dawson).

Guthrum has not been seen so far in “The Last Kingdom” series 2, and may make his first appearance this year in episode 5. He has one of the larger forces in the land, but his defeat will mean more trouble for Alfred. Will Uhtred be sent to put an end to this nuisance of the brothers once and for all?

In another video posted online, Bengtsson and his fellow cast member Christian Hillborg (Erik) explained what their respective characters were like. While Sigefrid is short tempered and a man of action, his brother is the one who does the planning. They are an ambitious duo who want to take over everything.

Bengesson teased that the fans can expect to see loads of drama and action in the future. He pointed out that the story is based in a violent time, so war and blood can be expected.

The preview video shows the Danes near a coast with some Viking galleys in the background. So, it is possible the army will travel by sea to reach their destination.

Sigefrid invokes his gods to inspire his troops. “The Last Kingdom” series 2 episode 5 is promising to be yet another action packed adventure. With the Viking brothers planning to attack Guthrum, it will be Danes against Danes in battle.
