'The Last Kingdom' spoilers: The unforgettable lines of Beocca
Every week a new video of one of the characters from “The Last Kingdom” is being released online. This time it is Beocca in the video. Meanwhile, production of Season 2 continues, and cast member Eliza Butterworth teased another behind the scenes video.
[Spoiler alert]
Beocca (Ian Hart) is a Saxon priest who serves King Alfred (David Dawson). He is also one of the strongest supporters of Uhtred (Alexander Dreymon). The character has a knack for words that leave his opponents speechless.
The character video released online shows some of the popular dialogues of the character. The first scene is of Beocca telling Skorpa (Jonas Malmsjo) that his mother should have “kept her legs closed.” The title of the video is “Boss like Beocca.”
The priest did not even spare the protagonist Uhtred. He would often ask the young warrior to keep calm and think things through before rushing in to confront anyone he feels has wronged him, even if that is the king himself.
Uhtred had multiple confrontations with the king in “The Last Kingdom.” Although he was following the king, he had nothing but contempt for him. This enraged Alfred, who wanted to be respected.
Beocca also took part in a major battle in the first season. He did not fight, but was there to support the Saxon army. He even handed Uhtred a weapon in the heat of the battle. It was the priest who convinced the king to follow Uhtred’s lead and go to war.
There was one particular scene where the priest had a witty come back for the king. When Alfred asked Beocca to wash his mouth for using foul language, the priest said he would – but with ale.
Meanwhile the production of “The Last Kingdom” Season 2 continues. Butterworth (Aelswith) teased a video from the set that showed the cast members singing together during their break. The actress described it as another “Saxon singalong.”
