TNT's debuting drama "The Last Ship" is set to air its finale on Aug. 24. The show that premiered on June 22, 2014 has now reached its much-anticipated climax. Fans are eager to know if Tom Chandler and rest of the crew of the James Nathan (ship) will succeed in their mission of saving the world from chaos created by the fatal disease and restoring peace in the society. Based on William Brinkley's novel with the same name, Michael Bay's drama tells the story of post apocalyptic world suffering from the disease that has led to mass deaths. Last week in episode titled "Trials" fans saw Dr. Rachel Scott put her research and invention to test. She enlisted six volunteers for the trials of the vaccine that has been developed to save the world from the disease. Despite the risks involved, people get themselves enrolled. The trials begin smoothly. However, testing hits the snag when people show symptoms such as rashes, fatigue and more. One of the volunteers loses his life due to heart attack. Later Scott figures the element that was missing in her vaccine. Once she knows, she successfully creates the treatment and gives the world the cure to the fatal disease and medicine that could immunize people from contracting the disease.

Back at Chandler's hometown, his family is seen struggling to stay safe. However, his wife comes in contact with an infected person. It remains to be seen if Chandler will reach on time to save his loved ones.

"The Last Ship" Episode 10 "No Place Like Home" picks up from where the show left. TNT teased spoilers from the show's finale in the synopsis on the network's site. As the title of the episode suggests, the crew of The Nathan James return home.

Each week Chandler and his team have battled a new challenge, which continues even when they get back to DC. Back home, he discovers that a warlord is creating menace in the society and challenging law and order. Meanwhile, power players try to tackle the situation. While Chandler searches for him family in the disorderly world, he makes a "terrifying" discovery about the new world.

The Last Ship" features Eric Dane as Tom Chandler, Rhona Mitra as Rachel Scott, Adam Baldwin as Mike Slattery, Sam Spruell as Quincy Tophet, and more. The show will return with Finale (Episode 10) "No Place Like Home" on August 24, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. on TNT. Fans must note that the show has been renewed for second season.
