'The Last Of Us 2' creative director Neil Druckmann and voice actor Nolan North prove title is in production
Almost immediately after players finished “The Last Of Us 2” in 2013, there was demand for a sequel, which Naughty Dog has unfortunately remained relatively silent on. There have, however, been clues left behind by key players that indicate fans of the title can definitely expect “The Last Of Us 2.”

Last year, in an interview with PlayStation Magazine (via Cinema Blend), creative director Neil Druckmann admitted that ideas were already being thrown back and forth on the sequel. “When Bruce and I moved over to ‘Uncharted 4,’ we were brainstorming ideas for ‘The Last Of Us 2’ with new characters,” he said. “Ideas for TLOU 2 with Joel and Ellie; ideas for a sci-fi game; ideas for a fantasy game and building prototypes for each one of those ideas.” All plans were halted when Druckmann was officially asked to work on “Uncharted 4.”
Despite the release of “Uncharted 4” in May, Druckmann has not said anything else about developments for “The Last Of Us 2.” But if his statement is anything to go by, Joel and Ellie will definitely make it onto the sequel. It only becomes a question about just how large their roles will be.

Meanwhile, Nolan North, a voice actor for the title, also slipped about a “The Last Of Us” sequel. “For now I know they're doing ‘Last of Us 2,’ but my character in ‘Last of Us’ kind of met an untimely demise,” he said during a Metrocon panel in 2015.
North voiced David, the leader of a group of mercenaries, whom the game’s protagonists had an encounter with.
The original “The Last Of Us” game ended with Joel and Ellie making their way back to a safe zone, which was headed by Joel’s brother, Tommy. Joel had successfully saved Ellie from an experiment that would have killed her for a chance at the cure. At that time, Ellie was the only known immune to the virus.
