‘The Last of Us 2’ theory: Time travel will be a possibility; Another LGBT lead character
A new theory that was released for “The Last of Us 2” suggests that time travel will be possible. Another protagonist will also be added to fight beside Ellie. It might be an LGBT character.
Many reports have suggested that another LGBT character besides Ellie will be part of the upcoming game sequel. The trailer released did not show much about the storyline, but it did show through a short dialogue that Ellie will be back with vengeance. In the first released trailer, it shows that Ellie and Joel are still together. However, the scene was set about five years from where “The Last of Us” part one left off.
Though there will be some hate and dark mood playing in the upcoming game sequel, it is speculated that another LBGT character will become a secondary protagonist. This new protagonist will apparently become Ellie’s lover. However, this has not yet been confirmed. In addition to this, the origin of the moods of revenge and hate in the game sequel is unknown too. However, it is speculated that it is due to the Fireflies group that may have killed a lot more people.
With this speculation on a possible new character, “The Last Of Us” creative director Neil Druckmann said that he will create new characters and add new stories, per a Reddit Q&A with Druckmann. Druckmann also suggests that Ellie will become a playable character unlike in the first instalment of the game. Joel was previously the playable character that was meant to protect Ellie. However, in the upcoming instalment, it may be that players can now control Ellie. This has led many to believe that Ellie will no longer need Joel at one point, according to CinemaBlend.
Time travel possibility
It has been speculated that time travel will be a possibility in the upcoming sequel of the game. The time travel function will allow players to go back and forth through time to fix the problems in the game. However, it was also reported that this may be an unlikely storyline. As of the time of writing, there are no specific details known yet as Druckmann is keeping mum about it.
Speculations suggest that “The Last of Us 2” will be focused on after the release of Naughty Dog’s “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” sometime in May 2016. However, fans of the upcoming game have only received two trailers with no definite release date. The two trailers that were sent out though revealed some bits about the storyline. Fans were able to see an angrier and older version of Ellie.
