Chinese netizens and human rights groups are fuming again over a latest infanticide case in the world's second largest economy, after a footage from a surveillance camera aired by a local TV station showed a bag containing an unwanted newly born baby girl was thrown out of a building window by her very own mother. And upon landing on the streets, the bag containing the baby was ran over by an unsuspecting driver. It would be a miracle for the baby to survive this ordeal, but no, she did not.

The incident happened in the north-eastern city of Harbin. The baby's mother was identified as an 18-year-old hairdresser with the surname Zhang.

Zhang, who gave birth on Tuesday in the bathroom of a flat she shared with 10 people, was reported to have gone up to a window between the second and third floors of the building. It was from there that she threw her innocent child down to the cold pavement below.

Zhang's own mother, according to the Shenghuo paper, was horrified when she learned what happened. "How could you do this, this is murder!"

The latest incident immediately fuelled the already burning sentiments of Chinese netizens regarding the growing infanticide cases in the country. "The child is innocent. The loss will haunt you all your life," Sina Weibo user addressed to the mother.

Police have taken custody of Zhang for suspicion of intentional homicide.
