Latest 'The Wolverine' Trailer Reveals Viper's Role, Yashida's True Motives
The latest international teaser of the movie "The Wolverine" will give fans more reasons to look forward to the movie's showing on July 26.
By mashing up previously shown snippets and new footage, the trailer provides more plot details and insights into some key characters of the movie. First off, it sheds light on the true motives of Yashida's invitation for Logan to go to Japan, and then gives a clearer description of Viper's role in the story.
It is known that Yashida owes Logan a favour because the latter once saved his life. He invites Logan to Japan and begins to repay by offering him mortality. "I want to offer you a gift Logan...I can make you mortal," Yashida says. But it turns out his intention was not as real as it appeared to be.
Yashida is dying and is not ready to go. So he wants to get Logan's power and transfer it to him. "Your ability to heal can be passed to another. Allow someone else to shoulder your burden," he tells Logan.
"Trust me, you don't want what I've got," was Logan's response, obviously unwilling to give in to the offer. Yashida turns to Viper to carry out the plan. The self-confessed chemist-slash-capitalist then entraps Logan - in bed. It's after an attack when Logan gets wounded that he realises he has lost his healing abilities. He knew Viper was responsible for it.
There's also a scene where Yukio, one of Yashida's employees, is shown foreseeing the future. She tells Logan her vision that he is going to die. The rest of the scenes show Wolverine battling it out with a number of samurais, including the enormous Silver Samurai.
"The Wolverine" features Hugh Jackman in the title role as the mutant with adamantium claws. With him in the movie is Svetlana Khodchenkova as the venomous Viper, Rila Fukushima as Yukio, Hal Yamanouchi as Yashida, and Will Yun Lee as the Silver Samurai.
The movie is directed by James Mangold.
