Adelaide United confirms the signing of Steven Lustica on a free transfer from Hajduk Split.

Lustica may be the final piece of the puzzle, with United already accommodating the maximum number of players at 23.

He played for Gold Coast United during his initial years in the A-League and was named Foxtel National Youth League Player of the Year back then.

While with Hajduk Split, he was able to gain invaluable experiences by playing against big clubs like FC Barcelona and Arsenal.

He was loaned by Brisbane Roar during the 2012 season of the A-League wherein he scored two goals after having featured ten times in the process.

United General Manager for Football Operations Michael Petrillo believes that Lustica has what it takes to bolster their squad, particularly, in the middle of the park.

"Steven is the type of player that fits with the football philosophy of the coach," Petrillo told footballaustralia.com.au.

Since the season is just around the corner, one of the primary considerations in signing a player is his capability to adapt, and in this case, Petrillo believes that the experiences that Lustica had acquired, both in the league and in Europe, will make the shift easier.

"Josep has had a good look at several players and has opted for Steven because he is technically very good, believes he can adapt quickly to the style of play and has had A-League experience.

"He has also spent several years in Europe at a very good club like Hajduk Split where he played in the UEFA Champions League as well. Steven will add versatility to our midfield and at just 22 years of age we believe he has a bright future ahead of him."
