Apple has organised a press event for the launch of its new iPads and OS X Yosemite this week on October 16. Apple Pay could also be launched on that day, in which again, is just a speculation. But if not, then the information leaked from Walgreens indicate that the unique payment system could be used at least on October 18 in its store.
There are other retail partners like the Sephora, Panera Bread or Whole Foods to name a few who are planning to support Apple Pay once it is launched. If there are more leaks from any of these stores it could be confirmed that Apple Pay will launch on the 18th of this month.
Apple has other financial partners who will use the unique payment system. According to the Daily Dot, an USAA executive said in an interview that the financial organization will fully support Apple Pay starting November 7. This interview sparked speculations and everybody was sure that Apple Pay would be launched on November 7. The new leaks from Walgreen has put these speculations to rest and sparked another that indicate Apple Pay will be launched on October 18.
Apple does not usually launch major services on weekends. However, these new rumours of the launch will fit Walgreen as this would be a day for general shopping. Apple may want to launch the unique payment system when people would go out shopping and would likely use the system to make payments.
