Learning from the Pro: Charlize Theron on How to Win an Oscar
Even though Charlize Theron came from a two-year hiatus from Hollywood, her newest movie "Young Adult" where she is gaining generally good reviews. With the movie bearing much resemblance to another Theron-starred Oscar magnet such as "Monster," Charlize Theron is still credible enough to help anyone on how to grab that Oscar win.
"The 36-year-old South African actress, who's been getting Oscar buzz for her work in her new movie, 'Young Adult,' joked with Josh about her own strategy for winning an Academy Award," reported Just Jared about Theron's guesting in the video interview with MTV's Josh Horowitz.
"Maybe this is not factual, but I heard that real people win more!" Charlize said.
"[My character] Mavis is real, for the record! I did a lot of research,'" continued Theron in the said interview, joking about her character as a viable entry for the Oscars for Best Actress in a Leading Role.
After lending her voice in the animated motion picture last 2009 in "Astroboy," she did not show up in any Hollywood movie until "Young Adult." This is not considered a comeback, since her career never actually faltered. Currently, Theron will be starring in two movies set to be shown in 2012: the Ridley Scott-helmed "Prometheus" where she will star as Meredith Shaw alongside Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender, and "Snow White and the Huntsman," wherein she will play the antagonist Queen Ravenna against Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, as Snow White and The Huntsman respectively.
"Young Adult" is a comedy drama film written by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman, the same team that have worked together in "Juno." It tells the story of a teen lit writer coming back to her home town to try and rekindle her glory days in high school after her divorce fell through. However, her high school sweetheart is now happily married with kids, which will make everything else complicated.
Reitman does have an incredible background with "Thank You for Smoking," "Juno" and "Up in the Air," so it would not be far off to see Theron with another Academy Award.
