LeBron James Marries High School Sweetheart Savannah Brinson
LeBron James marries his longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson at a posh Grand Del Mar Hotel in San Diego on Saturday, September 14, 2013 after a source tells the Associated Press.
James and Brinson, have their much-awaited union after less than three months that James won his second straight NBA title with the Miami Heat.
The private wedding was held in the hotel's Capella Chapel, and is part of the couple's three-day celebration. The celebration started with a "welcome barbecue" on Friday and will end with a "farewell brunch" on Sunday.
The newyweds are joined by their famous friends, including fellow NBA star Dwyane Wade with Gabrille Union, Beyonce and Jay Z, Miami Heat president Pat Riley, head coach Erik Spoelstra, Clippers All-Star guard Chris Paul, Knicks All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony with wife La La, and Neyo. The Queen Bey, 32, flew straight from Brazil to perform her 2003 hit single "Crazy in Love" with a full band and will be flying back out for another Sunday.
Not like any star-studded wedding, the guest list was not as long as the most superstar athlete's list. "He cut the list down because he didn't want to have 1,000 people at the wedding," a source told Page Six.
The newlyweds got engaged in January 1, 2012 when Lebron proposed to Savannah with a pear-shaped engagement diamond at a New Year's eve party at Shelborne hotel in South Beach. The proposal was witnessed by the couple's friends, Wade, Union, Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Lance Bass.
The couple have been together since they were 16 and already parents to two children, Lebron James Jr., 8, and Bryce Maximus, 6. Since they were engaged, James team Miami Heat have won the 2012 and 2013 Finals and was named MVP award for both finals, and was named 2012 Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the year.
When asked about her engagement back in 2012, the beautiful bride says, "I feel like everything is happening because it's supposed to. It was all in the stars," Brinson told Harper's Bazaar.
