Lena Dunham shared that Diane Keaton once thought she was a lesbian. She recounted how the renowned actress and producer just asked her straight out if she was interested in men at all.

On Monday evening, “Girls” creator Dunham and Judd Apatow appeared at an event hosted by Film Society of Lincoln Center to talk about their upcoming movie, “Trainwreck.” In the process, Vulture reported that the two recounted an experience they had with legendary actor, director, screenwriter and producer Diane Keaton and how straightforward she is. According to the pair, when she and Apatow met Keaton at a Christimas party hosted by Jennifer Aniston, Keaton asked Apatow if he is married to Dunham. Apatow was quick to clarify they are not husband and wife. Apatow claimed Dunham is just a friend and she is younger than him significantly, implying they cannot be together. Keaton absorbed response but did not mince words when she asked Dunham if she is a lesbian or “even like men.”

This had Dunham awestruck. Dunham claimed it’s the best thing ever for someone to be as direct as that. “Diane Keaton straight-up was just like, Oh, there’s a lesbian, and I’m Diane Keaton, so I don’t even need to beat around the proverbial bush,” Dunham reflected.

Apatow’s takeaway from the experience, however, was not as positive. He jokingly said that Keaton’s question of Dunham’s sexuality may be more about Diane Keaton’s judgment of him and his ability to bring a woman.

For her part, Keaton did not marry. She did not mince words as to why, since she declared herself not to be the marrying kind. In an interview with Independent UK, Keaton, 70, shared that she believes anyone can find love at any age. But she clarified that what she said doesn't necessarily apply to her.

Even though she did not marry, she did adopt two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke (now both 20 and 15, respectively). The famed actress shared that the arrival of Dexter gave a meaningful purpose to her life. She said her kids also keep her youthful aura alive, saying she even listens to a lot of Beyonce, Rihanna and Kanye West with them.
