British pop singer Leona Lewis has gained her fame as one of the most unlucky stars when she fell down from an elevator shaft in a concert.

Bang Showbiz reports that Lewis was in the middle of her performance in Sheffield, northern England when the accident happened.

The 'Bleeding Love' singer almost got seriously injured after she tumbled down a dark hole when her lift got stuck.

"We have been having problems with the lift. It had been going fine in rehearsals and then I had a bit of an accident and fell down the lift shaft. It was quite scary," Lewis said.

"I was lucky not to get injured. Fortunately it happened during a blackout on set and didn't affect the show and none of the audience saw anything. I got a shock and had to be rescued."

In the past, Lewis had injuries as results of unfortunate events.

The 2006 X-Factor winner recently suffered facial injuries when her horse headbutted her when it "turned on her".

In October last year, a male fan punched her in the face during a book signing in London.
