Leonardo DiCaprio Ditches Victoria’s Secret Model Girlfriend, Takes Mother Irmelin to Golden Globe Awards - Wins!
Leonardo DiCaprio's mother Irmelin turned out to be a lucky charm for him as he won the award for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards. His love for Victoria's Secret models is famous but on Sunday he chose to take his mother to the Golden Globes.
The 39-year-old actor walked the red carpet with Irmelin and left girlfriend Toni Garrn at home. Leonardo DiCaprio looked charming in a tuxedo while his mother wore a white shift dress paired with a gold pendant and blazer.
On the red carpet, Leonardo hugged his buddy Bradley Cooper who was also seen in a tuxedo.
"The Wolf of Wall Street" is one raunchy film, but Leo's mother and father, George, were not put off by his performance.
"I am almost 40 years old now, so I'd hope that I wouldn't have to answer to them," said Leonardo to Vanity Fair.
"'I think that the perception of me is still the child actor. So that, you know, people would wonder what my parents thought."
"But to tell you the truth, it didn't faze them whatsoever. I mean, I was reading underground comics in the back of my dad's station wagon that were much more gratuitous than this at 10 years old, so nothing really affected them on that level," added Leo.
Leonardo also talked about why his parents named him Leonardo.
"'My father tells me that they were on their honeymoon at the Uffizi gallery in Florence, I believe."
"They were looking at a da Vinci painting, and allegedly I started kicking furiously while my mother was pregnant," explained Leonardo.
"And my father took that as a sign, and I suppose DiCaprio wasn't that far from Da Vinci. And so, my dad, being the artist that he is, said, "That's our boy's name. ""
Well, Leonardo DiCaprio is finally taking the Golden Globe Award home. With such surprising win, maybe it's time for him for to take mommy Irmelin to the Academy Awards for a much deserved Oscar for his performances.
