Leonardo DiCaprio Joins Instagram, Treats Fans With His United Nations Climate Change Speech Pictures [SEE VIDEO]
Leonardo DiCaprio's fans were taken by a pleasant surprise on Tuesday when the Hollywood hunk joined social media picture sharing site Instagram and uploaded a couple of pictures too. Leo's first picture was however a bit of disappointment for fans who might have been expecting the "Titanic" actor to post some of his intimate pictures. Take a look at his first Instagram shot here.
The 39-year-old actor, who was recently appointed by the United Nations as Messenger of Peace shared at proud picture with his fans that shows him standing next to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Read more about his UN appointment here.
"Today, I have the privilege to speak at the United Nations #Climate2014 Summit where world leaders are expected to announce the bold steps they will take to tackle climate change. Thank you Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon," DiCaprio captioned the picture. The actor looks completely different in his picture with his long hair tied at the back tightly. On Tuesday, DiCaprio addressed the world leaders who were assembled for the United Nations Climate Summit in New York. The actor used the platform to urge the world leaders to take action to address "the greatest challenge of our existence on this planet."
"I play fictitious characters often solving fictitious problems. I believe that mankind has looked at climate change in that same way. As if pretending that climate change wasn't real would somehow make it go away, but I think we all know better than that now... None of this is rhetoric, and none of it is hysteria. It is fact," said DiCaprio in his fascinating speech at the summit.
DiCaprio's fans were thrilled to have him on Instagram. In just few hours after posting his first Instagram picture Leonardo had already gathered more than 190,000 plus followers. The "Wolf of Wall Street" actor is just following four people in return. The actor has a huge fan following on Twitter too where he has more than 11 million followers.
