The Lesbian Chronicles: Miley Cyprus Gives Thumb Up for Disney Kids Show, Good Luck Charlie, Which Will Have Lesbian Parents (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)

Same-sex relationship topics continue to take the centre stage and hit the news as countries' legislatures and supreme courts tackle gay marriages, celebrities like former Glee star Charice Pempengco come out on national TV and gay shows gain more popularity.

While a pioneering Philippine TV soap opera, My Husband's Lover, has been ruling it over the air waves because of the provocative theme of the show depicting a gay love story since it began airing on June 10, it just caught the attention of local bishops.

However, in the U.S., a TV show producer by Disney, Good Luck Charlie, will even add a couple of lesbian parents for its final season. The episode will air in 2014.

Anticipating a possible controversy the lesbian parents could generate from some conservative and family-oriented viewers who are part of Disney's market, a company spokesperson said in a statement printed by TV Guide, "This particular storyline was developed under the consultancy of child development experts and community advisors. Like all Disney Channel programming, it was developed to be relevant to kids and families around the world and to reflect themes of diversity and inclusiveness."

Among those who have given a thumb up for the Disney move is former Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus, who tweeted, "I commend Disney for making this step into the light of this generation. They control ... so much of what kids think! Life isn't bright sets & kids becoming superstars! This is inspiring!"

Miley, a former Disney child star, has an equal sign tattoo on her finger to show her support for gay rights. She also advocates marriage equality.
