"Blue is the Warmest Colour" could probably be the most talked about movie of 2013 in a hush-hush way. The movie not only talked about a budding lesbian relation between two females but also had a steamy seven-minute sex scene between the lovers. The controversial movie won the Palme d'Or honour at Cannes and legendary Director Steven Spielberg has used the word "magnificent" to describe it.

This French movie has definitely took the world by storm. The story revolved around a teenager Adele's life who aspired to choose teaching as a profession. However, her life took an unexpected twist when she met a blue-haired girl Emma who encouraged her to explore her innermost desires in life.

The movie shocked viewers at Cannes for its lengthy and explicit love-making scenes between two women but still it had been rated NC-17 in the U.S. "Blue is the Warmest Colour" has received critical reviews from all major film critics while some of them gave full five stars to the movie.

Noted Film Critic Peter Bradshaw who writes for The Guardian gave the movie 5-star rating. "What a passionate film it is. At the outset, Exarchopoulos's Adèle is a shy, smart high-schooler who finds that she is lonely and tentative in her social life. Emma, played by Séydoux, a twenty something art student. The romantic spark between them is a lightning bolt," Bradshaw wrote in his lengthy review of the erotic movie.

So what does he think about the erotic and lengthy sex scenes that reportedly took 10 days to complete the shoot?

"The sequence certainly strikes me as uncompromising and less exploitative than any smug softcore romcom or mainstream thriller in which women's implied sexual availability is casually served up as part of the entertainment," Bradshaw noted.

The critic called "Blue is the Warmest Colour" an outstanding film and the performances from Exarchopoulos and Séydoux made other people acting look very weak."
