Leslie Nielsen wanted to spoof Robert Pattinson, 'Twilight Saga'
Robert Pattinson could had been parodied by comedian Leslie Nielsen had the latter recovered from pneumonia. The late Olivier of spoof was reportedly a huge fan of the Twilight actor.
Nielsen died at the age of 84 due to complications from pneumonia on Sunday evening in Florida. He starred in numerous popular spoof and parody films.He appeared in over 100 films as well as 1,500 television programs throughout his acting career. Nielsen left an indelible imprint on American comedy with his portrayal of over 220 characters. (See full report here).
Robert Pattinson's Twilight character Edward Cullen could had been one of those characters spoofed by the late comedian. The Examiner reported that the Nielsen wanted to "desperately" parody the Twilight series.
The Web site quotes a source as saying that "Leslie was a big Robert Pattinson fan."
"He would have loved to work with Robert on a Twilight parody," said the source.
Nielsen has also played vampire in one of his many parodies. In Dracula: Dead and Loving It, the beloved actor spoofed Bram Stoker's Dracula. He had also appeared in other spoofs of horror flicks such as Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4.
