Trevor Williams of the Sheridan Bruins hit step-back, fade-away, off-the-bank three-point game-winner with 3.5 seconds left to defeat the Humber Hawks, 73-72 in an Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) match-up last Tuesday.

Williams and that beautiful improbable shot would have been the story of the game if not for the antics of one of the Hawks, Brandon Sam-Hinton, who was so cocky that he did not see the shot go in behind him.

The Youtube video (courtesy: Victor Nham) is pretty much self-explanatory but you have to watch it three or more times as the crowd (and camera) goes wild after the shot found the hoop. Even better, pause it right at the 0:03 mark:

That “two hands on the waist stance” is now probably infamous in Brampton, Ontario and we think, the entire Canada if and when the video goes viral.

The Hawks wasted what was a good effort in the final quarter for Hampton, who trailed by 12 points at halftime and 9 points at the end of the third canto.

Williams finished with 14 points on just 5-of-20 from the field and 2-of-8 from beyond the arc. However, by hitting the game-winner, the Bruins coaches and fans have probably forgiven him for that atrocious 25 per cent shooting.

That Brandon Sam-Hinton guy? He ended up with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting and 2-of-4 from 3-point land. Respectable numbers yes, but Williams and the rest of the Bruins get the last laugh on this one.

And just for additional laughs, it appears that the “cocky defender” isn’t a very good player for Hawks either. He averages 4.2 and 2.5 RPG for the season. So really, we don’t know where his cockiness is coming from.
