"Let it Snow" Google Trick and Why Won't It Work
Google has just debuted its latest homepage search trick that lets users make their homepage snow and frost over. For users who want to complete this trick, they simply have to type "Let It Snow" and click on the Google magnifying glass to experience the snowy effect.
Google's "Let It Snow" feature makes snowflakes drop from the display top, shortly after the screen starts to frost like a window of a car in winter. The user may wait a couple of seconds more and a defrost button will appear at the display top. Google is also celebrating Hanukkah so users may just type the word "Hanukkah" on the Google search box and they will find out the special surprise.
Watch the browser fill up with icy snow where you can skate around using your mouse and your browser acts like a nice frozen lake that shows the path your cursor takes. If you want to start over, you can simply click "defrost" and you'll find a clear screen with easy wind and downy flakes anew.
Other users are frustrated that the "Let it Snow" Google Easter egg won't work on their screens. Some say it doesn't work when your "Google Instant Predictions" is turned on. To turn this off, go to http://www.google.com and click "Settings." From there you can find "Google Instant Predictions" and turn it off to experience the snowy Google experience.
Others say the Easter egg only works on an HTML 5 compatible browser like Internet Explorer 9 only. This means if you're using Firefox, the version should not be lower than 8. Users can also try typing "Google Gravity" in the Google search bar and press the "I'm feeling lucky" button. If it works well, you can then type "let it snow" and see what happens.
It could also be that your Flash needs to be upgraded to the latest version. If you don't have an updated version, you only need to download the file for your type of operating system. It will auto-detect, just click download. Note that some browsers have their own built-in Flash.
Some say it could be compatibility issues so you can try going to Google's main page and then to tools > Compatibility View Settings and add Google.com to the list of sites to run in compatibility view.
