4K video recording on Sony Xperia Z2 impressed lots of users but the latest from LG, the G3, features the same function. Will the 13 MP on LG G3 match the 4K Video on Xperia Z2's 20.7 MP camera? Know which among the two records 4K video and compresses it better.

LG G3 vs. Sony Xperia Z2 on 4K Video

YouTube member Btekt matched up the 4K video recording capability on both LG G3 and Sony Xperia Z2 at the same time, side-by-side with complete preview of the colour reproduction, accuracy, auto-focus, macro, movement and exposure. Moreover, the recordings also included the live audio capture that determines they have been recorded at the same exact time.

Based on XperiaBlog's report, Btekt seemed to have favoured the digital stabilisation feature on the Sony Xperia Z2 20.7 MP Sony G lens camera than the Optical Image Stabilisation module on the 13 MP rear camera on LG G3 smartphone.

Here are the details on the rear camera of LG G3 and Sony Xperia Z2:

LG G3 4K Video Recording

Based on the uploaded video, LG G3 seems capture videos brighter under general focus with highlighted colour reproduction. Additionally, the response between movement and exposure faired-well.

However, the rear camera may have some focus delays under close-up recording and users may need to touch the screen to refocus it. Focusing on an object to bring upfront and blurring the background shifts quickly from close-up and locks on the target faster than Xperia Z2.

LG G3 has an advantage when it comes to compressing 4K videos compared to Xperia Z2. Btekt commented that G3 recorded the video with only 500 MB in, size which is 400 MB smaller than Xperia Z2.

Sony Xperia Z2 4K Video Recording

4K video recording on Sony Xperia Z2 captures the same scenes on LG G3. In general, Xperia Z2 captures fair amount of brightness, colour reproduction and accuracy but may have little noticeable blur on distant objects for the meticulous eye.

Xperia Z2 excels on quick auto-focus from general focus to macro in which G3 requires touch focus in order to do so. However, Xperia Z2 may have some delays on refocusing a near object to become the foreground. It is also noticeable that Xperia Z2 blurs the background more compared to G3 when focusing an object upfront.

Overall, both smartphones can produce 4K videos with great detail and point of view remains subjective to each individual admiring which one has the best colour, brightness and stability.
