LG G5 to feature drawer-like mechanism for removable battery along with unibody metal design
LG is rumoured to launch the LG G5 with an innovative design to include a removable battery. Speculations are rife that the LG G5 will be unleashed during the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event that will take place on Feb. 21 in Barcelona, Spain.
According to CNet Korea, a tipster has spilled the beans on the radical design of the LG G5. First of all, the smartphone will not be sporting the curved design that is available on the predecessor LG G series smartphones. The LG G5 will sport a flat design and will be slimmer than the predecessor models, Phone Arena reported.
The rear side of the LG G5 will only include the rumoured dual-camera setup and a fingerprint scanner. The buttons for volume and power will be present on the left side of the smartphone.
One of the most striking features of the LG G5 is that it will be coming with a removable battery compartment. The bottom bezel of the smartphone will sport a drawer-like mechanism that will make it possible to easily replace the battery of LG G5.
This way, the LG G5 will arrive with a removable battery feature even though it will feature a full-metal design. Most smartphones with a unibody metal-design that have launched so far in the previous do not feature removable batteries. However, engineers at LG G5 have spent a lot of time finalising a drawer-like mechanism for a user-replaceable battery on LG G5.
As far as other specs of the smartphone are concerned, it is expected to arrive with a 5.3-inch Quad HD display. The predecessor LG G series smartphones like LG G4 and LG G3 have sported 5.5-inch displays, but the probable reason why the LG G5 will come with a 5.3-inch screen is that like the LG V10 smartphone, it is likely to feature an additional ticker screen above the main display.
The Snapdragon 820 chipset will be fueling the LG G5 along with 3 or 4GB of RAM. It is expected to house a dual camera module for its 16 MP camera, Android Authority reported.
