LG Gears Up for February Shipment of Nexus 4
Talks of Possible Nexus 5 Phone, Nexus 7.7 Tab Releases
South Korea's LG appears all prepped for a major 2013 push as rumours intensified that the Nexus 4 manufacturers is gearing up for a salvo of Nexus gadget releases, which could include a 5-inch serving of the Google smartphone plus a Nexus 7.7 tablet.
Citing the signals coming from LG France Communications Director Cathy Robin and persistent speculations coming from Korean tech forums, TechCrunch reported that new Nexus gadgets would hit the global markets March 2013 onwards.
Not many details can be gleaned from forum chatters at the moment but the same report indicated that Nexus 5 and Nexus 7.7 would be built around the fresh NVIDIA chipset architecture - the Tegra 4.
These upcoming gadget releases are in line with the earlier hints by James Fisher, LG's chief marketing officer in the United States, that the gadget manufacturer is in the middle of a flourishing partnership with Google.
And the best testament for such soft declaration is by lining up new products to follow up on the 'success' of the Nexus 4, which according to Ms Robin remains in active production line contrary to earlier reports that LG has suspended the phone's manufacturing activities.
She echoed Google's claim that Nexus 4 would resume regular shipping by 2013, adding that by mid-February global orders and demands for the elusive smartphone will be gradually fulfilled.
Ms Robin admitted too that the Nexus 4 global distribution was fraught with serious stock out because initial production estimates were overwhelmed by the interest that the gadget has generated.
According to Android Central, Google based the first batch of Nexus 4 shipments on the actual sales performance of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which obvious was dwarfed big time by the LG version.
The LG French official insisted too that Nexus 4 production is currently in a 'ramped up' mode, also correcting earlier reports that by the end of December 2012 only 375,000 units were rolled out for worldwide shipment. The figures were way too low, Ms Robin said.
It is likely too that a new Optimus high-end smartphone, probably the successor to Optimus G, will debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain next month, TechCrunch said. LG targets a May 2013 schedule for the smartphone's commercial release.
In line with the top-notch handsets that are coming out this year, LG's new offering is expected to sport at least a 5-inch screen display on 1080p with quad-core processing muscle.
