LG Nexus 5 Will Based on Optimus G2 Running Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and to be Released on Oct. 5, 2013?
LG already stated that the company is not involved on manufacturing Nexus 5 but deeply interested if Google chooses them to take part on its creation. But a new rumour indicated that Nexus 5 will run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie and based on LG's upcoming flagship smartphone - Optimus G2.
LG's Opinion with Google Nexus 5
LG showed great interest with Nexus 5 if Google chooses the company to become its maker just like with Nexus 4.
"The Nexus 4 was a great success despite the production problems for us and Google. However we do not need such a marketing success again," Mr. Won Kim said on behalf of LG.
"What Mr. Won Kim said is that we are not currently working on a Nexus 5, which is true. But that doesn't mean we would turn down the opportunity," an unnamed LG representative told TheNextWeb.
But the latest rumour from Daum, a Korean Web site, says that Nexus 5 is based on the upcoming LG Optimus G2 and follows the same derivation of Nexus 4 from Optimus G.
Technical Specifications Reported
If Daum says that Nexus 5 is based on Optimus G2, Engadget revealed images and specifications of G2 and certainly boasts powerful hardware and great design.
Optimus G2 features 5.2-inches of full HD display with 1920 x 1080 resolution, IPS LCD thin bezel display, 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, 13MP primary camera with stabiliser, dual speakers, 4G LTE and 2700 mAh removable battery unit.
Its exterior design includes curved, smooth edged unibody, LED flash next to the camera lens and volume rockers right below the camera. All physical buttons are eliminated and converted to touch keys instead.
According to sources, Optimus G2 is expected to run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and Sprint might be its first carrier to distribute the device in the United States. LG Optimus G2 is rumoured to be released on August 7, 2013.
Daum revealed that Nexus 5 will run Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie but has similar specifications with LG Optimus G2. The Korean Web site claims Nexus 5 to be launched on October 5, 2013 which is the same rumoured month of Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie's grand appearance.
