LG Optimus G pad vs. Asus MeMO Pad 8 vs. Toshiba Encore: Battle of the 8-inch Tablets
Eight seems to be a magic number in the tablet scene, with three new upcoming contenders that share the same screen size for recently released tablets at the IFA 2013.
In a face-off among three known brands, LG, Asus, and Toshiba, which brand will have the most edge in terms of their newest tablet offerings?
LG G Pad: Compromises at the right corners
A slightly bigger screen size at 8.3-inches, the LG G Pad puts premium to its name, as it doesn't put bulk above comfort and convenience for users.
Its aluminum backside gives it a sleeker look without having the downside of putting on added weight. In terms of the display, you can get expect more with the LG G Pad, as it features a 1920x1200 crisp display, one of the higher resolutions among its class.
A supposedly surprising move on LG's part is opting for the Snapdragon 600 over the 800, which will have put it above the rest. But Ubergizmo reports that this trade-off allows for a better battery life.
Still, the performance tested by a variety of sources has proven that it was a good decision that managed to bring two improvements on the LG G Pad instead of just one, with smooth and responsive interface.
Some of its other features include a 16GB storage with microSD slot allowing up to 64GB, 2GB of RAM, a 5-megapixel rear and 1.3-megapixel front camera, 4600mAh battery, and the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS.

New and improved Asus MeMO Pad 8
You know that a brand is trying to put better service for its products when it rolls out a much improved product compared to one that it has recently rolled out.
This is the case with Asus, which feature the new MeMO Pad, this time as an 8-incher and with much to offer compared to the 7-inch that it has previously released.
Android Central reports that the display, while still bordering on the not-as-impressive at 1280x800, it is a huge improvement from its predecessor by a mile. As for other improvements, you will now find it sporting a 1.6GHz quad-core processor.
As an add-on that some may find as an attractive offer is the addition of the pink colour variant, breaking the usual white or gray choices for those who want to put in more colours to their device.
For those who prefer a bigger screen, Asus offers another size tablet, the 10-inch screen with pretty solid options, just in case an 8-inch tablet doesn't make the cut.

Toshiba Encore: Vanilla with a touch of Toshiba
Perhaps one of the tablets that received a mix of comments as it is not particularly striking nor is there absolutely damaging about its design.
According to CNet, Toshiba Encore, which is among the first Windows 8 tablets to go into the market, is not exactly a very remarkable product. While the design makes it a natural fit in your hands at 8 inches, it still weighs more than you would be willing to hold on to for quite some time.
It features 1,280x800 pixel display, a polycarbonate body, the Intel Bay Trail Atom processor inside, 32 GB of internal storage and expandable memory at 32GB. Other features include an 8-megapixel camera, micro-HDMI ports, and Windows 8.1.
One downside to expect is that the Toshiba Encore sells at $329, quite pricey for something as vanilla as it can go. In addition, for an 8-inch device, you don't exactly expect serious work to be done unless you have a detachable keyboard.
But according to PC Advisor, the Encore comes with the Microsoft Office Home & Student despite its lack of possible keyboard attachments. Still, if you have been a supporter of Toshiba, then you may find a number of its previously mentioned specs to be more your liking.
