TNT’s small screen franchise, “The Librarians,” is sure to have a fourth season as confirmed by the network. Season 4 of the fantasy-adventure series is slated to air later this year.

The show’s renewal was publicly announced by TNT days following the finale of the third season. “The Librarians” season 3 has garnered 5.4 million viewers, making the renewal an unsurprising event.

“The Librarians” season 3 episode 10 has concluded the third instalment on Jan. 22. The finale episode has seen another adventure as the characters in the series have once again saved the library, themselves and the world.

The series centres on an ancient organisation that is tasked to protect an unknown world from the secret, supernatural reality hidden all around. Some of its lead cast include Rebecca Romijn (Eve Baird) Christian Kane (Jake Stone), Lindy Booth (Cassandra Cillian) and John Harlan Kim (Ezekiel Jones).

The final episode of the previous instalment has revealed that Eve has not actually betrayed the library and the rest of the group members. It was made to appear earlier in season 3 that she was originally intended to be an infiltrator of the government's Department of Statistical Anomalies (DOSA). The latest episode titled “And the Wrath of Chaos” did not exactly answer if it was really the case. The episode has seen Jake, Cassandra and Ezekiel as they find themselves on a scavenger hunt. Cassandra has resorted, “Our whole job is a scavenger hunt.”

In other “The Librarians” news, Booth has previously opened up about getting rid of her character’s biggest problem, a life-threatening brain tumour. Last season, the Librarian underwent surgery after collapsing in a fight with evil vampires.

When Booth was asked what it means for her character to have the tumour taken off after all this time, the actress said it means a lot for Cillian. “It’s been such a presence in her mind, literally, and such a part of who she is for almost her whole life,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Electric Entertainment is the producer of the show. Marc Roskin, Noah Wyle and Dean Devlin co-executive produce it. John Rogers is the creator of the fantasy-adventure series centred on an ancient organisation hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library.

“The Librarians” has been announced for a renewal TNT announced picking up the Michelle Dockery starrer, “Good Behavior,” for season 2. The network has also added to its dramatic lineup next season “The Last Ship,” “Major Crimes” and “Animal Kingdom.”
